Workers are interrupted once every 10.5 minutes on average.
That’s not even the worst part: studies show it takes on average 23 minutes to regain focus.
7-minute interruptions cost you a half hour in actual focused work time.
Every time you’re interrupted, the process of regaining focus starts all over.
What is an hour of your time worth? What is half an hour of your time worth? That’s what an interruption costs. Every time you break your focus, you are setting money on fire.
You have to not only eliminate distractions, but you have to eliminate the very possibility of interruptions.
Chances are, you’re getting interrupted way more often than you realize and it’s killing your productivity. It may seem like interruptions are outside your control, but you have more power over them than you realize.
