Confidence comes from experience. Experience requires doing. Doing things takes courage.
Courage for what? Courage for trying something new. Courage for failing the 1st time (and the 31st time). Courage for being imperfect. Courage for setting your ego and perfectionism aside.
You’re waiting to have no fear before you act, and that’s what keeps you stuck. You think confidence precedes action. COURAGE precedes action. Confidence follows experience. Courage allows you to do the things that will give you experience.
Show up in spite of fear. Being afraid on the high dive before jumping, or behind stage before speaking, is a part of the process. Embrace it. Feel the fear and do it anyway. That’s the secret.
Fear is a part of the process, and you need to act in spite of it. Just knowing this may be enough to set you free. Don’t wait for the fear to go away. Do it anyway.
Confidence starts with courage.
